Sri Lanka’s First Lady, Shriranthi Rajapaksa
Following meetings in London and Colombo, Her Excellency Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the wife of President Mahinda Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka, kindly agreed to become patron of the Rainbow Centre and has subsequently been of enormous help. Her visit to the Rainbow Centre was a time to celebrate for all of the staff and children. She continues to take an active interest in the work of the Rainbow Centre and her compassionate support has been invaluable asset.
In June 2007, the Rainbow Centre was honoured to have a second patron, Jane Chilcott, the wife of the former British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka. Jane and her husband, His Excellency Dominick Chilcott, hosted a fund raising party for the Rainbow Centre at their residence. Jane is a much loved and respected figure in Sri Lanka. She has continued to visit the Rainbow Centre and been a great supporter of its work.
In June 2010, the Rainbow Centre was delighted when Heidi Paradise, a London based mother of four, agreed to become a patron. Heidi has been a compassionate and keen supporter of the Rainbow Centre’s work since it first began. Heidi and her husband, James Paradise, have given the Rainbow Centre much needed practical guidance and generous support.
Evelina Girling first visited the Rainbow Centre in 2007 and was much loved by all the children. Her dancing classes were a particular highlight. She has remained a close supporter of the Centre’s work and visited again in December 2010 with her husband, Richard Girling, and their three children. The Rainbow Centre was honoured to have Evelina become a patron in January 2011.
